Duke, 24, is a Florida State University graduate with degrees in Marketing and Management who brings a wealth of international leadership to the Moondance team. After gaining valuable experience as a camp counselor during his college years, he spent the past 14 months teaching second grade at an international school in Thailand. His deep-rooted passion for the outdoors began as an Eagle Scout and was further shaped by a semester studying abroad with Semester at Sea. We are thrilled to have his positive energy on board this summer!

Time on the water has shaped much of Valarie’s leadership style, and she brings that steady, hands-on experience into her first summer with Moondance. A recent graduate of UC Berkeley from Chicago, Illinois, she spent two summers in the British Virgin Islands working as both a camp counselor and sailing mate, living aboard boats with students while teaching sailing and scuba diving. Her background also includes mentoring freshmen through their transition to high school, serving as Vice President of student government, and leading mental health initiatives on campus. In addition, she has been involved with the Cal Sailing Team and coached gymnastics, giving her experience supporting students in both athletic and team-based settings. With a calm, adaptable presence and a strong focus on communication, Valarie creates an environment where students feel supported as they build confidence and try new challenges.

Georgia, 20, is from Raleigh, NC, and a rising junior at Appalachian State University. She went on Northern Lights and Madeira as a Moondance student, experiences that deepened her appreciation for shared adventure and community. At Appalachian State, Georgia is actively involved in Young Life and church leadership, where she leads small groups, organizes camp experiences, and supports student engagement. Her background also includes six years of experience as a nanny, along with teaching guitar and participating in youth-focused mission trips. Georgia looks forward to bringing an energetic, empathetic presence to her group and helping create a summer that feels fun, welcoming, and full of meaningful connection.
