Ice Cream Stops and Final Celebrations!

July 3, 2026

Day 11

We woke up to one last cool morning in the mountains before hiking down through Paklenica! Safe to say this group has gotten pretty quick over the past two weeks because we absolutely cruised down the trail. Bramlett, Monroe, and Piper somehow found themselves way out in front while everyone else did their best to keep up. Once we got to the bottom, the girls celebrated with ice cream while the boys immediately started a game of hacky sack as we waited for the bus. Some things never change.

After that, we hit the road to Omis! We spent the drive listening to music, singing way too loud, and getting excited for our next stop. We grabbed pizza as soon as we got into town before heading over to check out the zipline course. Omis might be one of our favorite places we’ve visited so far. The mountains, the river running through town, and the old buildings make it such a cool place to explore. We headed to bed excited for canyoneering the next morning!

Day 12

We woke up to fresh burek waiting for us, which was the perfect breakfast before one of everyone’s most anticipated activities… canyoneering! The day got off to a pretty entertaining start when Cole decided to race our guide Toni down the trail into the canyon. Once we got into the river, the fun really started. Simms and Lachlan somehow managed to get their shoes stuck together going down the very first rapid, which had the entire group laughing. Ellie took every chance she got to jump off another rock, and Lachlan was the first to send the biggest cliff jump of the day with everyone cheering him on from below.

There were so many fun little moments throughout the canyon. Monroe got some hilarious GoPro videos flying through the rapids, TK spotted two huge trout hanging out below one of the waterfalls, and Piper, McCree, Amelia, Will, and Sam all linked feet and floated down one of the calmer sections together. After we finished, we headed back into Omis for dinner where David and Sam ordered what quickly became known as the “Meat Mountain.” It was exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. Earlier that afternoon, Will feeding Simms ice cream while we walked around town also gave everyone a good laugh. That night, Chloe and David surprised AB and Sam during Nug Jug by making us the LODs for our final day together. Such a fun surprise and definitely something we won’t forget!

Day 13

We couldn’t believe it was already our last full day! Before leaving Omis, we decided to walk into town one last time for iced coffees and croissants before making the drive to Dubrovnik. As soon as we got there, we dropped our bags, grabbed our wallets, and headed into Old Town. The girls were on a mission to find souvenirs and Croatian jewelry while the boys decided they had one more adventure left in the tank. Sam took them to a famous cliff jumping spot just outside the city walls that he found last session. After making their way down a tiny staircase tucked between the buildings, they spent the afternoon jumping into the Adriatic with an unbelievable view of Dubrovnik above them. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon. Meanwhile, the girls definitely accomplished their shopping goals!! Along the way, Chloe, Amelia, and Ellie stopped for coffee while Bramlett, Monroe, Piper, Lachlan, and AB decided ice cream was a better use of time. We all met back up, grabbed a little more gelato, and made our way back to the hotel to get ready for our final banquet dinner. We wrapped up the night with one final Moonup before heading to bed. It’s hard to believe tomorrow we’ll be saying goodbye to this group. We’ve laughed a lot over the last two weeks, made some pretty incredible memories together, and feel really lucky we got to spend this trip with such an awesome group of people.

We started our final Moonup with the quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Then we went around and shared our favorite memories from the past two weeks, what each person brought to the group, and what we hope everyone takes home from this experience. There were lots of laughs, a few tears, and so much gratitude. It was the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable trip and celebrate everything this group shared together.

Parents, thank you so much for sharing your kids with us. We know how much trust that takes, and we don’t take it lightly. Over the past two weeks we’ve gotten to know such a fun, kind, supportive, caring, smart, and genuinely appreciative group of people. They made our jobs easy, kept us laughing every single day, and reminded us why we love leading Moondance trips so much. We are so grateful we got to be a small part of their story, and we will always be cheering them on through whatever comes next.

Thank you all for following along on our adventures. What a great two weeks we had in Croatia. We wouldn’t have wanted to spend them with anyone else.

Signing off one last time, CRO 2C! 🇭🇷❤️

Hvala,

AB + Sam

Birthday Celebrations and Incredible Views!

June 30, 2026

Day 6

Our first full day in Zavizan was one for the books! Bramlett and David were our LODs and got everyone fueled up with eggs, bacon, and sausage before we packed our day packs and headed out for our first day of hiking. Bramlett is the perfect leader for today, she is always positive and brings up the vibes! David is the same, and we appreciate so much how he is always wanting to do more and encouraging the group along the way. We had ten miles ahead of us, but between playing Wavelength, stopping for way too many pictures, and debating where everyone should travel next year, the miles honestly flew by. AB had a great time assigning everyone their “perfect” Moondance trip based on their personalities, and it only got us more excited for what was ahead. We stopped at a small hut for lunch where we made sandwiches and took a much needed break from the sun. Lachlan and Simms kept the hacky sack game going for the group. Amelia officially learned how to play, and by the end of lunch she was completely hooked. Of course, one summit wasn’t enough for this group, so we decided to hike up to a nearby overlook before heading back. The views were absolutely worth it!!

When we finally made it back to Zavizan, Ivan was waiting for us with cold Fantas to celebrate finishing our ten mile hike. Safe to say those disappeared pretty quickly. He continued teaching us Croatian while Ellie returned the favor by teaching him one of her favorite handshakes, which he absolutely nailed after a few tries! That night Bramlett and David cooked our favorite dinner yet, cevapi, rice, roasted broccoli, and salad. Nugs to them for cooking and leaving the kitchen spotless afterward. We wrapped up the night with hacky sack, Moonup overlooking the mountains, homemade lemon ginger tea, and one of the prettiest sunsets we’ve seen so far. The laughs somehow continued after lights out too when AB caught Ellie hopping around the hut in her sleeping bag liner.

Day 7

We woke up ready to tackle another day in the mountains, and this one definitely made us work for it! Amelia and TK were our LODs and did an awesome job setting the pace while leading us to two different summits throughout the day. These two worked so well together!! TK is the perfect LOD for a really hard day of hiking because he pays attention to the mood around him and makes sure to put everyone first. He incorporated multiple water and snack breaks, and he always made sure the vibes were up. Amelia did a great job practicing Leave No Trace principles along the trail, she really leaves every place and person better than she found them! We are so lucky to have them with us. The hike was hot, steep, and challenging, but this group never stopped encouraging each other. We stopped for lunch at a picnic table where sandwiches quickly turned into an intense game of Death Sack. Bramlett somehow made it almost to the end after being given a lucky hat, and nobody was surprised when the competition got way more serious than it probably needed to be. Chloe and Sam even ran back to Zavizan to refill everyone’s water bottles so the group stayed hydrated during the heat. MAJOR Nugs!!!!!

The climb to the second summit was definitely the toughest part of the day. Monroe and Amelia both pushed through their nerves on one of the steepest sections right before the top, while Simms continued to check on everyone and lend a hand whenever someone needed it. At one overlook, McCree climbed out onto a rock ledge while the rest of us stood back admiring both the view and what everyone agreed was his “unmatched aura”. Back at the hut, Amelia and TK made an incredible Mexican dinner complete with homemade guacamole that disappeared almost immediately. Nugs to Simms and Monroe for jumping on dishes afterward. For our last night in Zavizan, we hiked up to another overlook for Moonup and watched what was easily one of the prettiest sunsets of the trip. Amelia and TK also managed to reveal the Nug Jug in one of the funniest ways we’ve ever seen. Somehow Ellie found Ivan again later that night and they performed their handshake for all of the people staying in the hostel! At this point Ivan is just a part of our trip! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds!!

Day 8

We said goodbye to Zavizan and hit the road toward Plitvice National Park! Our LODs were Simms and Piper, and they definitely kept the spirits high in the morning before our longer transfer. Simms brings such great energy to the group, and we love how much he makes us laugh but also how kind hearted he is. He is the perfect Moondance student that encourages everyone around him while also living in the moment as he goes. Piper is a great choice for LOD because she brings a relaxed and happy energy to the group. No matter what the group was to face, we knew she could handle it!! We even broke up the drive with what many people declared the best pizza they’ve had in Croatia so far! Once we made it to Plitvice, we spent the afternoon wandering through waterfalls, lakes, and boardwalks that honestly didn’t even look real. Every few minutes someone was asking to stop for another picture. Piper helped lead the way through all of the winding trails while Amelia and Chloe spotted a water snake swimming through one of the lakes, which definitely got everyone’s attention.

Of course we found time for another competitive game of Death Sack. Somehow everyone agreed the game couldn’t continue until Simms finally got out, which took much longer than expected. Bramlett, Monroe, and Lachlan also decided it was the perfect time to show off their cheerleading skills and somehow convinced Ellie and Piper to trust them enough to get tossed into the air. During the ferry ride, David and McCree teamed up to solve Sam’s riddles while everyone else threw out completely wrong answers.

Will and TK proudly found what they claimed was “Croatia’s Best Ice Cream.” Safe to say the sign might have been a little misleading, but we appreciated the effort. Huge nugs to TK for somehow carrying half the group’s water bottles clipped all over his backpack. Another awesome day with lots of laughs and another place we’ll definitely never forget!!

Day 9

Day 9 was one of the most exciting days yet because it was officially “Chlocella,” AKA Chloe’s Sweet 16! And there were no better LODs to celebrate Chloe and make her feel special than Lachlan and Will. Lachlan has the kindest heart and is so perceptive to the world around her. She always dives headfirst into activities and embodies what it means to celebrate everything. We are so grateful for her and Will and how well they work together!!! We absolutely love celebrating birthdays on Moondance, and this group made sure Chloe felt celebrated from the moment she woke up. Huge nugs to Monroe and Ellie for helping AB secretly make Chloe’s birthday crown the night before. Early that morning, we all piled into Chloe’s room, sang Happy Birthday at the top of our lungs, and jumped on her bed to wake her up. It was the perfect way to kick off such a fun day.

We kept the birthday celebrations going during the drive to river kayaking with plenty of singalongs before stopping at a local market that might have had the best peaches we’ve ever tasted. Lachlan, Will, and Ellie packed all of our lunches while Chloe and Cole carefully picked out the perfect peaches. They must have done something right because we loved them so much we ended up stopping there again later that afternoon!!

After lunch, it was finally time to hit the river. Every kayak seemed to have its own personality. Bramlett and McCree quickly established themselves as the fastest pair on the river, while David and Piper confidently took every rapid head on. Simms was constantly hopping out of his kayak to help anyone who got stuck, and every time we turned around he seemed to be rescuing someone else. Will and Chloe somehow always managed to drift into other boats, creating plenty of laughs throughout the day. Lachlan and Bramlett both conquered their fears by jumping off one of the biggest cliffs that couldn’t even be kayaked. Meanwhile, AB and Ellie spent most of the day laughing so hard they somehow kept spinning in circles or getting stuck in the most random crevices. Sam kept everyone’s energy high from start to finish, cheering people on through every rapid and making sure everyone was having fun. Once we reached the canyon and made it over the waterfall, we all climbed up to jump into the freezing cold water below. Will volunteered to go first, and his reaction to the icy water had everyone laughing. It was exactly what we needed after spending all that time in the heat.

Back at the hostel, we squeezed in a competitive Spikeball tournament where Ellie and Simms quickly became the team to beat. That evening, our LODs, Will and Lachlan, pulled off the surprise of the century for Chloe during Nug Jug by revealing the birthday cake that AB and Sam had secretly made. It was a vanilla Oreo cake with a chocolate swirl, and somehow they managed to keep it hidden all day. We wrapped up the evening with a game of Concentration before another meaningful Moonup and one last night in Plitvice together.

Day 10

We got one final surprise from Plitvice when we spotted a bear on the drive out of the park. Safe to say everyone woke up pretty quickly after that!! Our next stop was one of Croatia’s incredible caves. We explored underground passageways, learned about the cave’s history, and even spent thirty seconds in complete silence with our headlamps turned off. It was one of the coolest experiences of the trip. Amelia even got the chance to touch an ancient artifact, while McCree did an awesome job leading the group through the cave as LOD. Chloe and Piper also managed to find some pretty incredible picture spots along the way.

After lunch overlooking the water, we stopped for ice cream where Cole ended up buying everyone’s treats when we realized they only accepted cash. Nugs to Cole! We also all picked out matching friendship bracelets before beginning the hike up to our next mountain hut. The hike somehow flew by between Sam’s endless riddles, stories from home, and David introducing everyone to his skills using the Vietnamese hacky sack. Bramlett and Ellie absolutely cruised up the mountain and set the pace for the group. Once we arrived, we cooled off in a natural spring before sitting down for a delicious Croatian dinner of goulash.

We wrapped up the evening exactly how we like to. Will, AB, and Ellie played guitar while Monroe and Piper sang along. Chloe shared the rest of her birthday candy with everyone, Simms nearly launched himself off a tree swing, and we all sat outside enjoying another night together. These simple nights have ended up being some of our favorites, and somehow this group just keeps making every day more fun than the last!!!! We are holding onto every second together and are so thankful for it all!

Hvala ti na svemu!!! Jako smo ti zahlvani,

AB + Sam 😆

June 25, 2026

Doberdan from CRO 2C!

HI FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!! Our names are Anna Brock (AB) and Sam, and we are the trip leaders for all of your lovely people for this session of Moondance in CROATIA!!!! We couldn’t be happier to have them here OR more excited for what’s to come. Thank you for sharing them with us for the next 14 days!

Day 2

Day 2 started with a bang as we hit the road for Rab Island, our first stop on our Adriatic Adventure! As we pulled off the ferry and onto the island, we were instantly in awe of the crystal clear blue water surrounding us. Before heading to our hostel after a LONG day of travel, Chloe and TK joined AB in the grocery store to help shop for meals. Nugs to them!!

When we finally got to our hostel, we dropped our bags and immediately walked into town for our first dinner together. After we stuffed ourselves with pizza, we headed back to kick off our very first Moonup. We talked all about what the next two weeks will look like and what it means to truly live in the moment and soak in every second of this incredible country!! It’s going to go fast!! AB and Sam selected our first LODs, Cole and Monroe. Cole immediately became such an important part of this group’s dynamic. He is absolutely hysterical and brings so much energy everywhere he goes. He even BOLDLY yelled “Roll Tide” to AB (Go Dawgs!!), which honestly takes some serious courage! Monroe has one of the warmest personalities. She has this way of making everyone around her feel welcomed and included, and she has already become someone everyone naturally gravitates toward. We knew she would be the perfect first LOD.

We couldn’t wait to see what our first full day of adventure would bring!

Day 3

We hit the ground running for our first full day of activities in Croatia!

Cole queued up an incredible breakfast playlist while he and Monroe cooked up eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, and juice to get everyone fueled for the day. Once breakfast was finished, we packed up our bags and headed off for our very first activity… sea kayaking!! We paddled through the most beautiful blue water before pulling off at a nearby beach to cool off with our first swim in the Adriatic. Safe to say everyone was counting down the seconds until they could jump in.

While we floated around, AB started asking what felt like a million riddles. One of them completely stumped the group until Bramlett came through with the right answer, leaving all of us wondering how we didn’t think of it sooner! After some snacks and plenty of pictures, we circled up on the beach for a few rounds of Mafia. Somehow, David managed to get accused over and over again despite never actually being the Mafia boss. Justice for David!!

Once we got back in the water, we played Imposter in a giant floating circle with Cole and Will taking turns being game master. This group LOVES a game! During the Mafia, let’s just say there were lots of accusations, lots of laughing, and probably a little too much confusion for one afternoon. Later, Will, Bramlett, and Amelia somehow found themselves as finalists in the Calabaria dance game, and naturally, it came down to a “Moo-off” to decide the champion. Congratulations to Will on his very prestigious victory.

Bramlett and Monroe grabbed some ice cream and spent some time soaking up the Croatian sunshine while Simms, Cole, and TK absolutely showed off during an intense game of hacky sack. They were balancing it on their backs, doing stalls, and making all of us wish we were half as talented. After a full day outside, we headed back to the hostel, where we made homemade carbonara and salad for dinner. It was delicious, but we all quickly decided dessert was necessary. We walked into town for gelato before ending the night playing Four Square on the beach and having Moonup by the water.

It was one of those days where everyone kept saying, “Can we do that again tomorrow?” We’d say that’s a pretty successful first activity!!!! For Day 4, Chloe and McCree were selected as our next LODs! Since the moment she arrived, Chloe has brought endless energy and positivity to the group. Her excitement is contagious and she somehow makes every day even more fun!!! McCree was the perfect choice alongside her. As our only third-year Moondancer, he has done such an incredible job making everyone feel welcomed while reminding us all what makes this experience so special. His love for Moondance is obvious, and he is making the absolute most of every second.

We can’t wait to see what Day 4 has in store!

Day 4

Today was our boat day, and WOW was it a good one. We spent the day exploring hidden coves, swimming in unbelievably blue water, and making memories that already feel impossible to forget. Piper, Lachlan, TK, Cole, and Sam kicked things off by swimming through an underwater cave entrance into one of the coolest caves we’ve ever seen. With bats hanging from the ceiling above them and crystal clear water below them, it definitely felt like something out of a movie.

While we were anchored later in the day, McCree, Will, and Simms somehow found themselves completely surrounded by fish after Sam and TK started tossing Biscoff cookies into the water. Suddenly, there were hundreds of fish everywhere, and everyone on the boat had front row seats to the chaos. The girls found another cave that was perfect for pictures while TK and Will climbed above them and jumped into the water. Safe to say everyone got the perfect action shot.

On the boat ride back, AB introduced the group to Dutch Blitz. Bramlett was so excited because she already knew how to play, and Piper had just recently learned too! Will, TK, McCree, David, and Lachlan all picked it up almost immediately, and somehow David turned into an absolute Dutch Blitz machine. We started expecting him to win every round. Back at the hostel, Simms officially became everyone’s hero after rescuing the girls from a spider in their room.

Dinner was another success thanks to chefs McCree and Chloe, and David earned major nugs for being the most helpful with dishes afterward. To end Moonup, we held one of the most competitive Moo Offs we’ve ever seen. It ended in a tie between TK and Monroe, so naturally the only logical solution was… a Veggie Off. Somehow that turned into both of them sprinting into the ocean, followed immediately by the entire group running after them laughing the whole way. It was one of those moments that perfectly captures what Moondance is all about.

Ellie and Will were selected as our next LODs! Ellie is absolutely hilarious and constantly brings the funniest, most spontaneous energy to the group. It is genuinely hard not to smile when she’s around. Will has been the glue of this group since Day 1. He is always ready to jump into whatever comes next, keeps everyone laughing, and has embraced every part of this experience with such a great attitude. We can’t wait to see what they bring to Day 5!

Day 5

We woke up ready for a day of travel as we made our way to the trekking section of our adventure! After getting to sleep in a little bit following our boat day, we packed up the hostel and drove through the beautiful Velebit Mountains. We stopped for lunch right on the water before continuing our climb higher and higher until we reached the mountain hut where we’ll be staying for the next few days.

Once we got settled, Sam taught everyone a few new card games while Bramlett, Amelia, and AB found what may have been the most comfortable wooden bench in all of Croatia and enjoyed some sunshine before the mountain air quickly reminded us how high up we really were. Dinner was another success as our LODs cooked up pasta, chicken, and salad for the whole group. Huge nugs to Lachlan and TK for immediately volunteering to tackle every single dish afterward. That is some REAL expedition behavior.

As the evening rolled around, McCree, Will, and TK raced each other to the top of the mountain just in time to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen. We wrapped up the night with Moonup overlooking the mountains while the sky turned every shade of pink and orange imaginable. Huge thanks to Lachlan for bringing what quickly became everyone’s favorite blanket to help keep us warm while we reflected on another incredible day.

For tomorrow, David and Bramlett will be our LODs! We have decided that David might just be the salt of the earth. He is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet and has quietly made such a positive impact on everyone around him already. Bramlett is another Moondance legend who consistently shows up for the people around her. She is thoughtful, empathetic, and gives everything she has to whatever she is doing. We know both of them are going to absolutely crush it tomorrow.

We can’t wait to see what the next day holds!
