Another day, another adventure here in Belize. After the weather cleared up we got the go-ahead for waterfall rappelling and ziplining! But first we had to start it off with a positive, so naturally we cooked some bacon, eggs, and bagel to really get the juices flowing. We arrived in Bocawina for our adventure and got immediately into the action. The guides handed up our harnesses and waters and told us to buckle up because we got a super tough hike coming up. He was right. The hike was a grind. Believe it or not, actually we saw a crocodile in a nearby pond before we started. Anyway, back to the hike. It was a battle the whole way up, but we couldn’t be more proud of the group. Morale was kept high and step by step everyone was supporting everyone. We were rewarded with a swimming hole at the top of the waterfall! Nugs to Claude for winning the biggest splash contest when jumping off the rock! We also made a stop at the view point to get a crazy view of the valley and jungle. We could even see the ocean! Now it was time for rappelling. After a safety briefing we were ready to go. Nugs to Stuart for stepping up to the plate and going first. I’m going to keep it real. It was intense. The water fall was right to your left and sometimes you were in the waterfall while rappelling. It was incredible. NUGS TO EVERYONE FORDOING SUCH AN AMAZING JOB. Once we were all done, we made our way down for a well earned lunch. Everyone was still reliving their experience and couldn’t wait for what was next- ziplining! But first, we played a big game of family, Ridley leading the way with some strong answers. Then we were off! Ziplining was a blast- we gave it our all in what are the odds and concocting up our best animal impressions! Caroline Liles somehow managed to keep her scream going while Miller, Richard, and Claude definitely scared off any jaguars that might have been nearby. After flying through the forest we loaded up the car, and hit the road back to Placencia. The sun set as we were in the car, but that didn’t kill this group’s energy! Richard and Ridley kept the fun going with riddles galore all the way home. Once back, we had a quick dinner, hydrated up, and hit the dock for moonup. Richard and Caroline Liles, today’s LODs led us in a explanation and demonstration of “if we could do any pose on the zipline what would we do”. There was lots of hanging upside down and even some hanging by your teeth! We then heard about everyone’s favorite piece of advice they’ve ever been given- shoutout to all of you amazing parents for all of your shared wisdom! We then played some mafia, and rounds of the kids new favorite game- “Weh Yuh Di Seh”. They closed the night off with some rounds of capitalism before hitting the hammocks for a well-deserved sleep.
Everybody buckled up for the best day ever? Because let me tell you, it was amazing. We started off with a lovely french toast break and some very watermelon. We then got picked up by our friends from Nautical Adventures and headed to the boat dock for a full day on a catamaran! On the way out it was wave city. Everyone was getting splash up front which made for a very fun and eventual tri[p tp the island. Nugs to Caroline C for staying up front and taking all the water so no one else had to! Once we arrived at the island the fun continued. We first tried beach volleyball. That was quickly interrupted by the rain. So the next best option was to head for the ocean. We played an amazing game of “Sings.” For those who don’t know the game, the goal is to pass an imaginary ball around by using people signs without the person in the middle detecting you. It was intense. Nugs to Claude for having a fantastic sign and nugs to Caroline L for being on her A-game at all times. We then were blessed with the best meal of the trip. Chef Rahj cooked up some BBQ chicken, pork chops, shrimp ceviche, shrimp skewers, and a fruit salad. It was heavenly. After lunch, we tried our luck with volleyball once again This time it was successful. We had a fantastic 5 vs 5 game that went all the way down to the wire. Nugs to Ridley for showing how to do everything. We then got the call to go back on the boat, and one the way back it was so peaceful. The captain tossed up the front sail, and we were cruising over the waves. The vibes were chill and relaxed and multiple people took naps. Nugs to Carson for getting deep into the ins and outs of the stock market. Very enlightening. Once back to the dock we were shuttled back to the royal rat and we got ready for dinner. We did a mass order of pork sandwiches, burgers, and some pasta and it was an absolute hit. While we waited for the food to be ready to be picked up we played some awesome games of ninja. The name of the game is to dodge other people “attacks” and keep both of your arms alive. Nugs to miller for being so good at it. It was actually super impressive. Once done with dinner we heeded to moonup. Millerand Ridley led a great moonup. We really opened up tonight and talked about our most embarrassing story and a very hard moment or time in our life. Everyone was so supportive and it was awesome to see people really open up. It was then time for showers and bed time as we got ready for tomorrow’s adventure. Congrats to Claude and Ellie for being tomorrow’s LODs!!
Hello everyone, and welcome to the latest update from the best group ever! We got the day started on a high…french toast. I’d like to take the opportunity to name a theme for the day. Surf and Turf. Well maybe Turf and then Surf. Anyway, we got in the van for our first activity, horseback riding. Once at the farm we threw on a helmet and met our horse that would soon become a best friend. We started nice and easy with a walk through the pasture and learned about the personalities of our horses. We then entered the deep and thick jungle. We walked through mud puddles and trotted up some cool hill before making it to the midway point. We stopped at a lovely river and took a nice rest. We spent the time doing the only reasonable activity. A few games on ninja. Let me tell you this was a competitive battle. Caroline L and Caroline C were constantly in the top 4 finishers, and Miller really made his presence known. On the way back it was more of the same absolute peace. It was cool to see that natural forest and especially with all the rain it was amazing to walk through the streams and all the puddles. We then headed for lunch. While watching the world cup we had to add a bit of spice so we got some milkshakes! Once we were finished we got ready for our second activity. River tubing! We headed that way and mentally prepared to tubing down some rapids. We got there, we got life jackets and our helmets and vessel of floatation…an inter tube. We started down the river all tied together and faced the first few rapids with speed. The rapids gave us a little bit of a scare but don’t worry everybody faced them head on and made it down. On the lazy river portion we got the speaker out and played some much needed tunes. Zac Brown Band completed the vibes as we floated down the beautiful river. Once finished we got back in the van and headed home. Once at home we hung out for a quick sec and then headed down to the beach before dinner. We met up with a group for a big hangout. The boys played tag on the dock and the girls played volleyball in the water. After that everyone grouped up and enjoyed everyone’s company. It was now time for the best dinner to date…SUSHI. We went to the main sushi restaurant in placencia and got ready for a feast. And a feast it was. The MVP? The Imperial Boat of sushi. It was insane. Safe to say dinner was a success. We then obviously had to get ice cream at Tutti Frutti before heading home. Ellie and Claude led an amazing moonup and we talked about what advice you would give to your younger self. I was very impressed with how mature the answers were. We then hit the hay before an amazing day tomorrow. Congrats to Xarson and Caroline C for being the next LODs!
Today was an early morning, but it was majorly worth it. SCUBA DIVING. We got picked up and got ready for our last dive of the trip. Splash provided some lovely breakfast burritos, and with that we headed out to the dive site. We got in the water and were immediately met with so much life. A big nurse shark met us and gave everyone a pass so we could all give it some back scratches. We then headed to the wall. It seemed like it was the most popular place for lobster in the world. They were everywhere! We all saw some hug crabs, along with some lion fish. The MVP of the wall was the 5 ft long green moray eel at the bottom. It was HUGE. Back on top of the wall the fun continued. Multiple nurse sharks came to swim with us, and we saw some amazing trumpet fish. One was about 2 feet long! We even saw a spotted drum fish. It was so cool. Look it up. Back on the surface it was a little more interesting. It started raining right when we got on the boat which made the ride back a little different. The vibes were still high. Nugs to Ridley and Caroline L for always bringing the energy and having a dance party on the boat. Once back at splash we had some well earned lunch and dried off from the rain. Post lunch, we headed to our favorite nearby cafe for some ice cream! We then went back and had a world cup watch party- what a game! This watch party might have also naturally included a hacky sack circle and vlog session courtesy of Cannon and Caroline Courts. There will be no shortage of fun film from this trip! After the game, we headed back to pack up our beloved hostel. Next stop- the basketball courts! Here we met up with Belize group B for some basketball and even had an epic joint soccer game with a bunch of Placencia locals! Miller defended goal while Claude, Richard, and Thomas gave it their all on the field! The winner is unclear, but all had fun and that’s a win! Then on to dinner, with our awesome dive guide and friend, Diego! Smash burgers, double smash burgers… what more could you need? Just kidding, the options were endless and everyone left grateful for a fun final night in the amazing village of Placencia! We then jammed out in the back of Sheila’s truck one last time on our way to the hostel where we danced the group’s new favorite dancing game- Calabria! We appreciate Ridley’s commitment to keeping everyone on beat! Our LODs, Carson and Caroline, then led us in a fun moonup where we heard about some funny “time you’ve been in trouble stories” in addition to something you want to improve on in the next year. We then showered and had everyone settle down for a true good nights’ sleep.

What is up from Belize 3A!!
Couldn’t be more excited to get this show on the road, and let me tell you, it will be a show filled with fun, laughs, and a whole bunch of “WOW” moments! This session started at the Belize City airport, and Stuart set the tone early by being the first one out of all students in all groups through the airport! That’s what I’m talking about, Stuart. After everyone touched base with home, it was time to unplug. The phones went into the bag, and with that, BLZ3A officially commenced. The small talk didn’t last long as pretty soon we jumped into some full-blown conversations. Caroline C., Caroline L., and Ridley all agreed that they wanted to see a shark while diving, and Tyler (the leader) was hoping to see a loggerhead turtle again. We then begin a talk about the ideal gas station stop. Snack, drink, candy. What’s your go to? Carson had a great shout with the MUGS root beer, and Richard kept it simple with a good ole water and a Kind bar. We stopped for lunch, and the chicken and cheese quesadilla was the runaway favorite. The guys decided to test their manhood and try every type of hot sauce they had. I would like to say I am very impressed with this group. Back in the van, it was now riddle time. Miller spearheaded the riddle time with the classic “airplane game.” We all tried to guess where he would go next, and let’s just say some people were stumped. Ridley led us in a game of Black Magic, which was a fan favorite, and Claude kept it light-hearted with some brain teasers. Once at the hostel (the best place ever), we met with our host Mark and Shelia and quickly set up our eno village. Once that got situated, the boys broke into the darks and had a great game, while the girls started some friendship bracelets and hung in the pool. Once everyone joined the pool, we obviously had to play the best pool game ever…STAR! It was great all around. We kept it simple with pizza for dinner and then started our first moonup. It was a little longer this time around to go through some logistics but we then got into the questions. We shared what we were nervous and excited about for the trip, Ridley and Richard were elected as our first LODs of the trip! It was then time for showers as everyone gears up for a first full day tomorrow! THIS IS GOING TO BE AN INCREDIBLE TWO WEEKS
For day number two we woke up in the best way possible…pancakes. After everyone had their fair-share, LOD’s Richard and Ridley gave us some wiser words during our morning huddle and got us ready to go. We then got picked up by our favorite people ever, splash dive center. We headed to the dive center and got all of our gear we needed to be professional scuba divers. But first we had to take a test. Oooooo scaryyyyyy. Don’t worry though, everyone passed! After the test everyone went over the diver table and Caroline C. seemed like she had 10 years of experience the way she was explaining it. We then loaded up into the Splash van and went to our confined water pool dive. Everyone worked on their basic skills and built confidence to succeed in the open water! Miller expressed that this made him even more excited for the real deal and to be able to fully embrace the experience. After lunch (it was amazing as usual), we then got into some pickleball! We had two courts of 2v2 going on at once and everyone rotating in and out! Man the games were competitive. Caroline L had to take a break after she played 5 consecutive games, and Claude looked like he had just ran a marathon from the way he was sweating! Tyler and Thomas hopped in for a couple games when people needed some rest and we can assure that they are a talented group! Some of the guides even played with us! Once we were all pickleballed out, we went to the hostel to regroup and get ready to go to a beach to go out to dinner. Once at the beach, games of soccer and pickleball immediately broke out along with a game of tag around the dock! We met some awesome local kids and they joined in on the games and gave us a big jolt of energy. We then headed down to our favorite dinner spot! The meal of the night was nachos, and let me tell you they were incredible. I think there were about 6 orders of nachos around the table. We naturally played some games of imposter, and Carson had some great words to throw people off. After dinner we headed down to the best gelato place in all the land Tutti Frutti! We then were picked up and headed back for moonup. Richard and Ridley led an incredible moonup tonight with questions about dream concerts and what is the best thing someone could give you that is not a physical gift. Many reflected about lost time with family and loved ones or just a simple note saying they are doing a good job. We then finished with a few games of Birdie on a Perch (best game ever)and of course Mafia! After showers, it was time for bed. We can’t wait for what tomorrow has in store, and how awesome our new LODs Miller and Caroline C are going to be!
Goooooood morning from Belize! Tyler, Thomas, Miller, and Richard got going early and did a quick work out on the dock before breakfast. Let’s just say Tyler showed us what’s up. To reward our embarrassment we had some lovely french toast, prepared by the MVPs. We then got all geared up for scuba diving, but unfortunately the weather had other plans. Because of the rain, we had to switch it up a little bit. BUT THATS OK BECAUSE WE ARE LIVING IN THE MOMENT! We then just hung out at the hostel for a little bit. The hero of the morning was the card game Capitalism. The goal is to get rid of all your cards and not be the last to do so…or something like that. I (Thomas) was not very good at it. Cannon, on the other hand, was an absolute champion. She was president (first one to get rid of their cards) multiple times, and Miller was super pumped about his new groundbreaking strategy. With the addition of some arts, the rainy morning turned into a great way to kick start our day. Our outfitters came to the rescue and took us to our first activity. MAYAN CHOCOLATE TOUR! We learned all about the farming process of chocolate, and the history of the Cocoa tree too. Did you know chocolate comes from fruit and the fruit is actually really good for you?! Everything that our parents told us was a lie. Our snack this morning was none other than termite. Yes. You heard me. Termites. They are actually very rich in protein and taste like mint. Delicious. Nugs to Carson for being the first one to try them! We then learned how to make chocolate. Use a stone from volcanic rock you crush the seed and create heat from friction to create a past. Ellie was a complete natural at the crushing process. We then filled our bellies with more food consisting of chicken, meatballs (best thing ever), rice, and coleslaw. It was incredible. They even got us some corn tortillas so we could make tacos! The theme of today was riddles. I think we went through every riddle imaginable. The “Airplane game” is still a popular favorite but this time around more and more people came close to the answer. Another favorite was the “I went camping” game. It was great. After lunch we moved on to our next activity, a local Garifuna drum class! We learned all about the traditional drums and the rituals that went along with the songs. We were lucky enough to be taught by a team of drummers that won the Belize national drum championship last year! We learned about the traditional dances that went along with the songs as well. The crowd favorite was the Punta. By the end everyone was jumping and spinning around together enjoying the traditional music. Claude really felt the rhythm and showed how it’s done. It was incredible. We then took our talents to the soccer field. We played with the kids from the village Seine Bight, and they definitely were out of our league. We even tried to play a 5v5 game with them. Even though we helped ourselves for a little, they beat us 3-0. We came home and prepared the meal for tonight. While we were hanging before dinner, people played darts, Capitalism, swam in the pool, and Stuart even caught a few fish!. The meal for tonight? Walking tacos / tacos in a bag. They were exquisite. We then cleaned up and headed to our 3rd night of moonup. LODs, Miller and Caroline C, did a great job of leading it. We learned about an experience that changed your mindset on life, and also had some great quotes. Nothing like Master Oogway’s quote “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present.” With that we enjoyed some more “Birdie on a Perch” before we hit the hay. We are so excited for tomorrow and congratulations to Claude and Cannon for being our next LODs!
OH MY GOODNESS WE WENT SCUBA DIVING TODAY!! Because of the early rain we actually got to sleep in a little bit which was very necessary for our big day of scuba diving. LODs, Claude and Cannon got us ready to go with a fantastic morning huddle and with that we were picked up by splash and headed to the dive center for our first day of diving! Once we arrived we hopped straight into the action. We set up our gear and to pass the time while the boat arrived we played a local Belizean game called “Weh yuh di seh.” It is very similar to Apples to Apples. Stuart brought all the energy needed to get the vibes high and keep everyone excited for the day. When on the boat to the dive location, it became naptime. Naps here. Naps there. Naps everywhere. One person did not nap. And that was Miller. The reason he did not nap was because he was blocking all the water from splashing Richard. WHAT GREAT EB! We then arrived at the beautiful dive spot. The water looked like someone poured a light blue Gatorade in the ocean. It was perfect. We then strapped up and took our first leaps into the open ocean! After a few skills at the bottom we went exploring. We saw everything from Angel Fish, Stoplight parrot fish, huge lobsters, to a lemon shark! Back on the boat everyone recapped their experience and how much they loved scuba diving for the first time. Ridley was ecstatic and nugs to Caroline L for showing so much courage and crushing all of the skills today. Lunch was incredible (as usual), and something about the mangos today might have made my summer. After lunch we set off for our second dive and it was somehow as amazing as the first. Carson nailed his skills and loved every bit of exploring the cool little crevasses of the reef. One the way back from Laughing Bird it was naptime number two. Nugs to the reggae music all the way home it really kept the vibe cool, calm, and relaxed. We then broke down our gear and naturally had to reward ourselves with some ice cream. Back at the hostel, some worked out on the doc, some played, cards, and some just hung about. Stuart even caught another fish and a crab! After all that everyone got in the pool to play a game of signs and of course STAR. Chinese was on the menu for dinner tonight and let’s just say it was amazing. The chicken low mien with curry was the crowd favorite along with a sweet and sour sauce. After dinner we hand moonup led by Claude and Cannon. We talked about what two animals you would want to combine and who has had a huge impact on your life. After moonup we played a game of Shake and Pop (so much fun). Nugs to Thomas and Caroline L for winning as the two Mafia members! Carson and Caroline L were selected as LODs and we are so excited for how well they are going to do.
TODAY WAS THE COOLEST DAY OF ALL TIME!! We started off the day with breakfast and some lovely words from our LODs Carson and Caroline L. We logged our dives from yesterday, got all of our gear ready to go, and got on the boat to go to a new spot. After a quick history briefing from the ranger we got ready for our morning dive. The dive site was the North Wall, and they weren’t joking about the wall part. After swimming for a couple seconds it felt like we were swimming off the edge of the earth. The coolest part was we had all 12 of us diving together! Some might say 13 if you count the nurse shark that swam with us the whole time! The visibility was crystal clear and you could see everything down there. We saw tons of lobster, angel fish, and parrot fish. Some of the big time highlights were the huge grouper, snapper, and a few lion fish. The star of the morning was the big bull shark that swam about 15 feet below us! It was insane! Everyone was screaming underwater and it was so cool! Once above the wall we continued to see all sorts of things. We saw another big grouper and multiple lion fish. And don’t forget our friend nurse shark that had been with us the whole day! Back above water, we had a splendid lunch and got fresh tanks for the second dive. We stayed around the island this time because everyone had a few more skills they had to complete before they could be officially certified. About 15 min after getting to the bottom we were met with two visitors. DOLPHINS!!!! They circled us about 5 times and they got so close! Carson even got so close he could touch one! Once the dolphins left we continued our dive around the reef, and it was brimming with life. There were tons of fish and so many cool corals even in the shallower water. We saw more lobster, jellyfish, and lion fish. We were able to get super close to the coral so we saw so many cool little fish. To end the day we went snorkeling, and naturally right as we got there we saw a big sea turtle. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Nugs to Caroline C and Ridley for getting so many cool pictures on their gopro’s! We then headed back to the dive shop and went to a great local spot for dinner. Chicken Joe’s. We talked about what 5 liquids you could have on your fingers at all times and many more fun little questions. We obviously had to get Tutti Frutti after dinner to cap off an amazing day. Carson and Caroline L led a great moonup and with that we showered and headed to bed to get ready for another amazing. And nugs to Stuart and Ellie for being our next LODs!
Boy oh boy, was today a scramble or what. While we were eating breakfast we were under the impression that we were waterfall rappelling and ziplining today. Mother nature had very different plans. On the way to our activity, it felt like the sky opened up and we had to turn around so we didn’t get flooded in where we were going to rappel. We made a few calls and managed to figure out a new plan. We did a traditional Mayan cooking class! We actually met up with Belize group B, and did the class with them. We all teamed up and cut all the veggies, peeled the potatoes, ground up the cocoa beans for the chocolate drink, and prepared all the spices. We also made our own corn tortillas! While the soup was doing its last bit of cooking we played some hacky sack and even musical chairs with the other group. It was so much fun! Nugs to Richard for almost winning the musical chairs game! We then sat down for lunch that we prepared and it was incredible. They had this chili powder spice to put in your soup and it made the entire dish. I will say though it definitely made us sweat a bit. Cooking was great but the issue was that we had no idea what we were going to do in the afternoon. After talking with LODs Stuart and Ellie, we came up with a plan.Olympics. We were going to split into two teams and have competitions the rest of the afternoon and finish with an iron chef competition where the teams competed to make the best meal. Great idea, right. However, when we stopped at Chill Point for a quick snack we ran into the one and only Mrs. Patty. AKA head boss of Splash. AKA the G.O.A.T. AKA an actual lifesaver. AKA where would we be without her. Anyway, she gave us some incredible news. We were going to a painting class taught by a local who has painted for 27 years! He taught us so many techniques and we ended up with a bunch of lovely sunset paintings. Nugs to Miller for having an unbelievable piece to Caroline L for adding sea turtles to hers. We had to keep the iron chef plan alive so we split into teams and got down to business. The main meal team decided they were going with flank steak burritos and the appetizer/dessert team went with chips with queso/guac/salsa and ice cream for dessert. Little did they know we already had dessert covered. A surprise delivery from Tutti Frutti! Shhhhhhh. They don’t know yet. The steaks? Incredible. Nugs to Richard and Thomas for being the grill masters. The sauce? Superb. Nugs to Ellie and Caroline L. Queso? Impeccable. Nugs to Ridley and Caroline C. The Tortillas? Perfectly grilled. Nugs to Carson. Overall, a ridiculously good meal and shout out to everyone who helped out. Big fat nugs to Claude and Miller for stepping up with the dish crew and getting everything cleaned. We then got straight into moonup. Stuart and Ellie brought some amazing quotes and the questions were great too! Mark Twain said it best, “Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today.” INCLUDING A RANDOM DELIVERY FROM TUTTI FRUTTI! What a great way to end a crazy day. Any who, we look forward to what tomorrow has in store and pumped to see how well Caroline L and Richard lead us tomorrow as LODs.

Hello Belize Families!
We heard from our leaders that the group has landed safely in Belize City! The trip is off to a great start, and we cannot wait to hear more stories from their adventure!
