Dive into the wildest parts of the Southeast as you travel crest to coast, experiencing just about every outdoor activity under the summer sun. This trip takes you to the top of Mount Mitchell, where you’ll view the vastness of the Blue Ridge Mountains; then carving down the white water route on the Ocoee River; and finally all the way to the low country coast of Folly Beach. Get off the beaten path, and take the trail of adventure as you backpack, surf, climb, kayak and raft through the Appalachian hollows, and Atlantic swells of Mountains to Sea.

  • Learn to Rock Climb on the granite face of Looking Glass Rock
  • Backpack beautiful Pisgah National Forest
  • Hike to the top of the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, Mount Mitchell 6,683
  • White water raft the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers
  • Ride the tides as you stand up paddle board, surf, and sea kayak at Folly Beach

rock climbing

Learn the ropes (and how to tie them) as you ascend Looking Glass Rock. This famed rock feature is the perfect place to get vertical, and to take in views of the entire Blue Ridge. Professional guides will teach you to belay, harness up, and tie-in to technical climbs such as “Second Coming” and “Bloody Crack.”

Strap on your pack and hike into the lush and lovely wilderness of Pisgah National forest. With everything you need on your back, learn to sleep, cook, and be comfortable in the backcountry. Get into the rhythm of rising with the sun, and sleeping beneath the stars. As your wilderness skills grow, you’ll summit Mount Mitchell at 6,683, and stand on the highest peak east of the Mississippi River.

white water rafting

The Blue Ridge is full of thrilling waterways carving through the mountains. Sample two of the finest as you paddle the fast and fun Nantahala in an inflatable kayak, and then ride the wave trains of the Ocoee in a white water raft. Learn to navigate white water safety, paddle as a team, and take on big rapids, and exciting drops surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Appalachian mountains.

Take to the low country wonders of Folly Beach and ride the Atlantic tides on a longboard. Surf-school will teach you to read and paddle into waves, and before you know it you’ll be standing on the swells. After you’ve mastered surfing, try out a stand up paddle board, and get a new ocean view. The low country Atlantic is the perfect body of water for exploring these two adventure sports.
