Staffing Coordinator

Moondance seeks a highly adaptable and dynamic individual to assist in the Trip Leader interviewing, hiring, placement, and training. This role is crucial to every summer at Moondance as our leaders embody Moondance’s mission and impart this onto each of our students throughout the course of every summer. This individual will be part of Moondance’s administrative team.

Though we are in the outdoor travel industry, this is an office job, meaning that we are behind a computer most days in preparation for the summer. This individual must have a strong work ethic and be able to meet deadlines as assigned. This individual must possess strong organizational and computer skills to help us continue to develop as one of the finest travel programs for teens. Moondance has developed a great reputation among our previous Trip Leaders as one of the best jobs they’ve ever had. The Staffing Team works hard to develop this reputation and position through recruiting, hiring, and training as efficiently and personally as possible. The Staffing Coordinator must be relationally inclined and have an innate ability to build rapport with all interested candidates. We are seeking candidates who can stand behind our philosophy and core values and thrive in an office-based, computer-oriented environment.

Things you’ll do:

• Assist in the interviewing and hiring of summer trip leaders
• Recruit Trip Leader applicants
  • Recruiting on college campuses and in other hub cities
  • Communicate with network of Moondance leaders and alumni
  • Outreach via Unplugged blog, Handshake, LinkedIn, etc
• Connect with all previous Trip Leaders and understand their employment and/or college status to promote veteran leader retention
• Assess hired leaders and place them on trips
  • Pair with co-leaders
  • Determine individual qualifications of each leader 
• Coordinate and organize the WFR and WFA offered through Moondance prior to Staff Training
• Book all staff summer travel and accommodations
• Process background checks, review medical forms, and review paperwork
• Participate in our 12-day Staff Training – teach lessons, develop relationships with leaders, embody the Moondance culture
• Manage summer operations alongside the rest of the administrative team – communicate with leaders and parents, quickly problem solve, respond to incidents and emergencies 
• Debrief leaders at the summer’s conclusion 
• Contribute as a team member to Moondance development, policies, and procedures
• Maintain a friendly, positive, and comforting attitude daily
• Be ready to take on more responsibility given your knowledge and experience with Moondance
• Stay true to the Moondance philosophy and core values

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including in a phone-based service environment 
• Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team
• Strong computer skills
• Proficiency in Google Products, including Gmail, Google Docs and Google Sheets applications
• Comfortable working with (or quickly learning) other computer applications such as our CRMs, CampSite
