Overview

Moondance is seeking talented individuals to join us on our quest of creating the most dynamic adventure travel programs for teens. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about the outdoors and growth within Moondance to join our team. Though we are in the outdoor travel industry, this is an office job meaning that we are behind a computer most days in preparation for the summer. Individuals applying for this role must be passionate about growth within Moondance and what we do. The ideal individual must have a strong work ethic, an enthusiastic and professional attitude and have exceptional organization and administrative skills. Expectations
  • 40 hours/week is our typical schedule, with fluctuating hours during staff training and our summer season
  • In-office at our Nashville, TN headquarters
Education
  • Bachelors degree or higher required
  • Ideal degrees include business administration, communications, hospitality, marketing or finance

Staffing Coordinator

Our staffing team consists of dynamic and charismatic individuals whose personality exudes the Moondance spirit. Your primary responsibility would be recruiting and training our most important company assets: the 150+ trip leaders that make Moondance magical! Expect to represent Moondance wherever you go: work-related or not. You will travel on recruiting visits, plan and run our 12-day residential Staff Training, and serve as the go-to person for all of our leaders pre and post summer. Note: during the summer, it’s a 24/7 job!

Job specific requirements include:

  • Previous experience with summer programs, project management, recruiting (can be for college organizations), event planning and execution
  • Passion for kids, education, leadership, travel, the environment, and outdoor adventure

Potential responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the interviewing and hiring of summer trip leaders
  • Recruit Trip Leader applicants
    • Recruiting on college campuses and in other hub cities
    • Communicating with network of Moondance leaders and alumni
    • Outreach via Unplugged blog, Handshake, LinkedIn, etc
  • Connect with all previous Trip Leaders and understand their employment and/or college status
  • Assess hired leaders and place onto trips
    • Pair with co-leaders
    • Determine individual qualifications of each leader
  • Coordinate and organize the WFR and WFA offered through Moondance prior to Staff Training
  • Book all staff summer travel and accommodations
  • Update Sandy’s Slides, a trip leader slideshow
  • Help facilitate end of summer trip leader debrief within HQ
  • With regards to Staff Training:
    • Help coordinate day to day schedule
    • Serve as liaison between leaders, facilitators, and other members of HQ
    • Coordinate staff transportation for arrival and departure
    • Oversee staff travel and accommodations prior to and during the summer

Summer responsibilities include:

  • Participate and assist with our pre-summer 12-day, intensive, off-site Staff Training
  • Handle incoming parent and student calls related to summer concerns
  • Support trip leaders with student information, trip logistics, and communication expectations
  • Post online trip updates and notify families
  • Contribute to post trip debrief with trip leaders in departmental capacity
