What We’re Looking For

Overview

Moondance is seeking talented individuals to join us on our quest of creating the most dynamic adventure travel programs for teens. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about the outdoors and growth within Moondance to join our team. Though we are in the outdoor travel industry, this is an office job meaning that we are behind a computer most days in preparation for the summer. Individuals applying for this role must be passionate about growth within Moondance and what we do. The ideal individual must have a strong work ethic, an enthusiastic and professional attitude and have exceptional organization and administrative skills. We like our small company’s unique culture that provides an environment that rewards outgoing, curious people who are self-starters.

Culture Fit
  • A servant-hearted individual: we strive to always put others first
  • A person with a true zest for life
  • A love for adventure travel and positively impacting young people
  • An interest in being part of a close-knit and collaborative professional team
Expectations
  • 40 hours/week is our typical schedule, with fluctuating hours during staff training and our summer season
  • In-office at our Nashville, TN headquarters
Education
  • Bachelors degree or higher required
  • Ideal degrees include business administration, communications, hospitality, marketing or finance
Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Competitive benefit package including health insurance
  • Three weeks of paid time off plus approximately 15 days of additional holiday paid time off

Financial Coordinator

Moondance Adventures, one of the world’s best student travel companies, is looking for a financial coordinator who can dream big, is fun to work with, and knows how to get things done. We are a culture where passion and purpose come together, and so everyone in the business, from the corner office to the mailroom (yes, we still have one of those), needs to be inspired by the shared vision of transforming teens’ lives through travel. We care more about attitude than we do about aptitude (even for a finance role!), because we recognize that anyone can learn skills, but nobody can learn how to “get it”. Our purpose and our values either resonate deeply and authentically with your world view or they don’t, and you’ll know which as soon as you walk through our door.

Things you’ll do:

  • Work with the Finance Director to build (and become) the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly, accurately, and with minimal drama.
  • Parse the numbers like a pro (even if you’re not actually an accountant by training), as you work to manage our financial data and assist with the monthly closing cycle and reports.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the finance team, as well as operations and other departments, to maintain our collective financial health.
  • Help to establish realistic financial milestones, goals and guardrails, and make everything transparent & comprehensible.
  • Roll up your sleeves to massage the numbers, identify and implement improvements in process and practice, and keep an eye on our regulatory compliance so that everyone can sleep at night.

Skills you have:

  • Numerical literacy is obviously a must, but the ability to translate numbers for the non-literate is even more essential – a finance department should never be a black box!
  • Attention to detail is a prerequisite, but the ability to problem solve will assure your success, as we value and reward initiative and ambition in making Moondance a better company.
  • Business smarts would be useful, as we believe that everyone should be able to contribute to the future of the company, no matter what their position in the org chart.
  • Humility and patience, persistence, endurance, optimism and a well-developed sense of humor.

What you’ve done:

  • Survived in the trenches of college long enough to earn an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting (a graduate degree would be a bonus) and ideally completed a few laps around the business cycle working for someone else.
  • Played competitively on a winning team (in business, sports, or life) and proven your ability to collaborate with your teammates.
  • Experience with a travel brand would be nice, but the ability to “get it” is essential.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Basic Health insurance
  • 401(k) and profit-sharing plan after 12 months of employment
  • 3 Weeks of vacation per year,
  • Additional other paid holiday time off (approximately 22 additional days)
  • Casual work environment
  • The opportunity to change lives

Who We Are: Moondance is an adventure travel company sending teens to some of the world’s most awe-inspiring places to experience lifechanging moments of transformation and growth. We believe that the most impactful adventures happen outside of our comfort zones when we put ourselves in new surroundings where old paradigms no longer apply and where we are thereby forced to live in the moment. This is Moondance.
