Why Moondance?

  • You’ll have the opportunity to lead bright, enthusiastic teenagers on domestic and international wilderness and community service programs
  • Serve as a teacher, leader, friend and role model to teenagers
  • Work alongside other excited, adventure travel enthusiasts
  • Our trips are co-ed trips with at least one male leader and one female leader. We cap our group size at 12-13 participants and aim for a 50/50 ratio of guys to girls.

Program Destinations

  • With 24 unique programs, we run 97 trips in total, operating in 11 states and 17 countries (across 5 different continents!)
  • Domestically, our trips stretch from the mountains of Western North Carolina to the Golden Coast of California and all the way to the wild tundra of South Central Alaska
  • Internationally, Moondance organizes programs in Central and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, the South Pacific and Iceland

Program Types

  • Discovery: Domestic introductory multi-sport adventures designed for students 12-13 years old
  • Classic: Domestic multi-sport adventures designed for students 14-15 years old
  • Leadership: Challenging domestic and international programs highlighted by a leadership curriculum for students 14-18 years old
  • Service: International and domestic service trips intertwined with adventure activities for students 14-18 years old

Compensation

  • First-year salary for the summer is an average of $2,200, depending on the trip you are selected to lead
  • Leaders are typically assigned 2-3 sections of the same program
  • All Moondance program expenses including accommodations, meals on your trip, outfitted activities, and transportation to and from the trip’s location
  • Pro Deal accounts giving you exclusive access to significant discounts on an assortment of respected outdoor brands
  • Partial reimbursement for Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Certification
