The Pacific Northwest is a land of rocky shores, cool spruce forests, jagged summits towering above glaciers, alpine meadows, and spirited rivers flowing through cloudless desert canyons. After twenty-one days of adventure, you'll come to know this land intimately -- and may never want to leave.
Sea Kayaking -- San Juan Islands
Learn the fundamentals of sea kayaking on a three-day expedition through the rich coastal ecosystem of the San Juan Islands. Pull out on remote beaches to camp for the night, and explore the diverse marine life in the tide pools along these rocky shores.
Backpacking -- North Cascades National Park
Backpack for seven days through North Cascades National Park, the centerpiece of an enormous, unbroken network of protected wilderness. Develop a rock-solid base of wilderness skills that will last a lifetime as you wander amid a rugged range of mountains often called "America's Alps" for their surpassing splendor.
Rock Climbing -- Smith Rock
Spend four days learning to climb amid the towering walls and bizarre formations at Smith Rock, one of the top areas in the U.S. climbing scene. Learn the fundamentals of safe climbing as you progress from simple top-roped challenges to more demanding multi-pitch routes.
Whitewater Rafting -- The Deschutes River
Spend two days learning to read whitewater and finesse a paddle as you raft through the Class II-IV rapids of the Deschutes River. Spend your final nights in a field beneath the clear air and star-filled skies of the high desert of central Oregon. |
