"This is like no other program I have been on. It is filled with some of the most wonderful activites that give you the greatest feeling that you accomplished something that day!"
-Hillary White, Atlanta, GA

The Northern Lights expedition offers a wilderness odyssey in one of the world's last true frontiers. With largely unimpaired natural ecosystems and abundant wildlife, Alaska rewards backcountry travelers with a sense of natural integrity that is truly indispensable in our modern world. When it is time to return to the "real world," you'll realize that you have already discovered what's "real" in the Alaskan wilderness.

Sea Kayaking -- Prince William Sound

Undertake a five-day expedition by sea kayak along the rugged shores and through the stunning blue waters of Prince William Sound. Explore fjords where massive glaciers sweep down to the water from the Chugach Mountains and calve off into a floating wonderland of small icebergs--and be sure to keep your eyes alert for harbor seals, bald eagles, whales, and sea otters! Camp on remote beaches accessible only by kayak where a fascinating intertidal ecosystem awaits your exploration.

Backpacking and Whitewater Rafting -- Talkeetna Mountains

Journey inland to the remote and unfrequented terrain of the Talkeetna Mountains for an extended backpacking and rafting expedition. Sharpen your backcountry skills and learn the finer points of navigation as you hike on-trail and off-trail through the sweeping arctic tundra above treeline. Then climb aboard whitewater rafts--shuttled deep into the backcountry by bush pilot!--for an exciting three-day river journey out of the heart of the range, braving Class III and IV rapids in a breathtakingly remote setting.
